As a GIS Technician, you will support our engineering, environmental, and planning teams by delivering high-quality geospatial analysis and mapping services.

You will play a key role in the management and application of geographic data to ensure project success and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, analyze, and maintain spatial data using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Produce detailed maps and visualizations to support infrastructure, environmental, and urban planning projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and environmental scientists to integrate GIS solutions into project workflows.
  • Conduct geospatial analysis and provide insights to aid decision-making processes.
  • Maintain and update geodatabases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Perform data acquisition from various sources, including GPS, remote sensing, and public datasets.
  • Prepare and present GIS outputs in reports and client presentations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and best practices in data handling and geospatial analysis.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A degree or diploma in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in GIS software, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with geospatial data management, analysis, and visualization.
  • Knowledge of spatial data formats (e.g., shapefiles, GeoJSON, CAD data) and databases.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable:

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for geospatial tasks.
  • Knowledge of remote sensing techniques and software.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and integrating GIS with engineering designs.
  • Previous experience in an engineering or environmental consultancy.
