For this role, we are ideally looking for someone with strong existing knowledge and practical experience in passive fire protection and fire door surveying who can hit the ground running, rather than someone who would require significant training and technical guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed passive fire and compartmentation surveys.
- Carry out fire door inspections and assess existing doorsets.
- Inspect fire stopping, penetrations, linear joints and compartment lines.
- Identify defects, breaches and areas of non-compliance.
- Review fire test evidence, certification and manufacturers’ information.
- Produce clear, accurate technical survey reports
- .Provide appropriate recommendations for remedial works.
- Liaise directly with clients, contractors and site teams.
- Provide technical advice on passive fire protection where required.
Ideal Qualifications & Experience
- ABBE Level 3 Award in Fire Door Inspection, or equivalent such as FPA Level 3 or BRE Level 3 Fire Door Inspection.
- ABBE Level 2 Award or higher in Introduction to Passive Fire Protection.
- ASFP Level 3 qualification in Passive Fire Protection.
- IFE Level 3 qualification in Passive Fire Protection.
- Strong practical experience of fire door inspections, including assessing doorsets against relevant standards, certification and manufacturers’ evidence.
- Strong knowledge of fire stopping inspections, including penetrations, linear joints and tested systems.
- Experience undertaking compartmentation surveys, identifying wall and floor constructions, defects and breaches in compartment lines.
- Ability to interpret fire test evidence, third-party certification, manufacturers’ technical literature and installation details.
- Experience producing technically accurate reports with clear remedial recommendations.
- Good understanding of relevant British Standards and industry guidance relating to passive fire protection and fire doors.
- Confident dealing with clients, contractors and site teams and providing technical advice where required.
What We’re Looking For
This role would suit an experienced Passive Fire Surveyor, Fire Door Surveyor, Passive Fire Inspector or Fire-Stopping Surveyor who has a strong technical background and can work independently from day one.
You will need to be technically confident, detail-focused and commercially aware, with the ability to communicate findings clearly and professionally to clients and contractors.
