We are working with a specialist design consultancy to recruit an experienced Transport Planner to join their growing team. The consultancy takes an integrated approach to transport planning and engineering, delivering innovative and practical design solutions that help create better places. With a growing portfolio of development-focused projects, this is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated planner to make a real impact while working across a diverse range of schemes.

The Role:
Based in Guildford, this is a hybrid role that combines remote working with office-based collaboration. You will manage and deliver transport planning projects of varying scale for both public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, manage multiple projects, and communicate complex ideas clearly to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans for development-led projects.
  • Conduct access feasibility studies and design, applying industry guidance (e.g., LTN 1/20, DMRB, Manual for Streets).
  • Lead projects from inception to delivery with minimal supervision.
  • Mentor, manage, and train junior staff.
  • Contribute to and lead bids, proposals, and financial planning.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, planning authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Use industry-standard software, including Junctions 9, LinSig, and AutoCAD.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree or higher in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or related discipline.
  • Significant experience in development-focused transport planning.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality TA/TS and Travel Plans.
  • Strong understanding of the planning process in England.
  • Excellent communication, client liaison, and project management skills.
  • Ability to mentor and manage junior staff.
  • Chartered status is beneficial but not essential.

Why Join?

  • Work in a modern, well-connected, and supportive environment.
  • Exposure to a diverse range of exciting and challenging projects.
  • Clear career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • Mentoring and guidance from senior professionals with genuine commitment to personal growth.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary with company-wide bonus scheme.
  • 5% employer pension contribution.
  • 25 days annual leave plus birthday leave, long-service awards, and the option to purchase additional days.
  • Hybrid working arrangements for flexibility.
  • Private healthcare and healthcare cash plan.
  • Employee Assistance Programme for wellbeing support.
  • Gym/sports club membership contribution.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme & EV Salary Sacrifice scheme.
  • Payment of professional subscriptions.
  • Life assurance.
