An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate / Associate Director (Landscape) to join a growing, award-winning interdisciplinary planning, design and environmental consultancy in Bristol.

The practice is employee-owned and operates across the UK, bringing together expertise across planning, landscape, design and environmental disciplines. With people at the heart of its work, the practice is committed to creating high-quality, commercially aware solutions that deliver lasting value for clients, communities and partners.

The Role:

This is a senior opportunity for a landscape professional with strong experience across landscape architecture and landscape planning, particularly within the English planning system.

The successful candidate will lead small to medium-sized projects, with opportunities to become increasingly involved in larger and higher-value schemes. They will take responsibility for project delivery, client relationships, fee management and team development, while also contributing to business development and the wider strategic direction of the practice.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading creative design solutions across a range of landscape projects and design strategies.
  • Managing project programmes, fees, resources and work scheduling.
  • Monitoring project expenditure and identifying additional scope where appropriate.
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Leading meetings, presentations and discussions with clients and professional teams.
  • Working collaboratively across landscape, planning, architecture and urban design disciplines.
  • Providing guidance, mentoring and support to junior colleagues.
  • Contributing to fee proposals, bids and business development activities.
  • Identifying opportunities for cross-disciplinary work and new business.
  • Supporting public inquiries and professional presentations where appropriate.
  • Representing the practice professionally and contributing to its profile and reputation.
  • Maintaining an active programme of continuing professional development.

About You:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and ambitious landscape professional looking to take on greater project, client and team leadership responsibilities.

Candidates should have:

  • 5+ years' industry experience post-CMLI qualification.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical design skills.
  • Excellent design flair and a creative approach to Landscape Architecture.
  • Extensive experience working within the English Planning System.
  • Experience working across projects of varying scales, with large-scale project experience desirable.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of project expenditure and fee monitoring.
  • Business development experience, which would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Vectorworks/CAD, Microsoft Office and National Building Specification.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign and Illustrator, as well as Resoft WindFarm and QGIS, or the willingness and ability to learn.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
