No two projects are the same, providing excellent exposure to different engineering challenges and the opportunity to develop a broad technical skillset.

The drainage and flood risk discipline is an important and growing part of the business, creating opportunities for engineers who want to develop their technical expertise, take on increasing responsibility and progress their careers within a specialist team.

The Role

You will work alongside experienced civil engineers, planners, architects and environmental specialists to develop practical and sustainable drainage and infrastructure solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

Civil and infrastructure design from feasibility through to construction.

Surface water and foul drainage design.

Drainage strategies and technical submissions for planning.

Flood Risk Assessments and flood risk investigations.

Sustainable drainage (SuDS) design.

Attenuation, infiltration and surface water management solutions.

Drainage calculations and technical assessments.

Hardstanding, external works and associated infrastructure design.

Investigation of existing drainage networks and site constraints.

Technical submissions to water companies and regulatory authorities.

Supporting approvals and agreements associated with drainage and infrastructure works.

Site surveys, inspections and investigations.

Liaising with Local Authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities, water companies and environmental regulators.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

2+ years' professional experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or development consultancy.

A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience contributing to drainage and/or flood risk projects.

Good technical writing and report preparation skills.

Strong verbal communication and stakeholder management abilities.

A practical and analytical approach to engineering problems.

The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider technical team.

A genuine interest in developing your technical knowledge and taking on additional responsibility.

Progress towards professional membership or chartership with ICE, CIWEM or a similar institution would be beneficial.

What’s on Offer

Competitive salary and benefits package.

Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

Support towards professional chartership and membership of relevant institutions.

Structured technical training and career development.

Opportunity to work alongside experienced specialists across civil engineering, drainage and flood risk.

Exposure to technically challenging and varied projects rather than repetitive development work.

Increasing responsibility and clear opportunities for progression.

A collaborative and supportive working environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil Engineer with drainage and flood risk experience who wants greater exposure to technically interesting projects with conservation and nature based solutions at the fore front.
