Access Talent Group are currently recruiting for an established and growing engineering consultancy is looking for a motivated Civil / Drainage & Flood Risk Engineer to join its expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of technically challenging infrastructure and development projects across the UK.
Unlike more conventional development engineering roles, the team regularly works on projects where standardised solutions are not always appropriate. You will have the opportunity to develop bespoke, innovative and technically robust engineering solutions across a wide variety of environments and project types.
The portfolio includes complex residential and commercial developments, educational sites, heritage and conservation projects, private estates, major public-sector assets and other technically sensitive environments. No two projects are the same, providing excellent exposure to different engineering challenges and the opportunity to develop a broad technical skillset.
The drainage and flood risk discipline is an important and growing part of the business, creating opportunities for engineers who want to develop their technical expertise, take on increasing responsibility and progress their careers within a specialist team.
The Role
You will work alongside experienced civil engineers, planners, architects and environmental specialists to develop practical and sustainable drainage and infrastructure solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
Civil and infrastructure design from feasibility through to construction.
Surface water and foul drainage design.
Drainage strategies and technical submissions for planning.
Flood Risk Assessments and flood risk investigations.
Sustainable drainage (SuDS) design.
Attenuation, infiltration and surface water management solutions.
Drainage calculations and technical assessments.
Hardstanding, external works and associated infrastructure design.
Investigation of existing drainage networks and site constraints.
Technical submissions to water companies and regulatory authorities.
Supporting approvals and agreements associated with drainage and infrastructure works.
Site surveys, inspections and investigations.
Liaising with Local Authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities, water companies and environmental regulators.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
2+ years' professional experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or development consultancy.
A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience contributing to drainage and/or flood risk projects.
Good technical writing and report preparation skills.
Strong verbal communication and stakeholder management abilities.
A practical and analytical approach to engineering problems.
The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider technical team.
A genuine interest in developing your technical knowledge and taking on additional responsibility.
Progress towards professional membership or chartership with ICE, CIWEM or a similar institution would be beneficial.
