ATG are working with a forward-thinking environmental consultancy with offices across the UK and Ireland. Their Belfast team provides expert environmental services across sectors including infrastructure, energy, commercial development, and public sector projects.
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Environmental Consultant to join a growing Northern Ireland team.
Role Overview
The Environmental Consultant will support the delivery of high-quality environmental assessments, planning support, and sustainability advice for a variety of projects. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, engaging in both fieldwork and report preparation, and collaborating closely with senior consultants and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental Statements (ES), and related planning documentation.
- Conduct environmental baseline studies, field surveys, and site assessments.
- Prepare technical reports, screening and scoping reports, and regulatory submissions.
- Liaise with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation and planning policy.
- Support the coordination of specialist inputs from in-house and external consultants.
- Assist with project management tasks, including scheduling and resource planning.
Requirements
- Degree (Level 6 or above) in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Planning, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in an environmental consultancy or related role.
- Solid understanding of UK and NI environmental legislation, planning processes, and EIA regulations.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office; experience with GIS is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site work when needed.
Desirable
- Working toward or holding professional accreditation (e.g., IEMA, CIWEM, RTPI).
- Experience with Appropriate Assessment (AA), Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), or Sustainability Appraisals.
- Knowledge of climate risk assessments or net zero planning.
