We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Environmental Consultant to join a growing Northern Ireland team.

Role Overview

The Environmental Consultant will support the delivery of high-quality environmental assessments, planning support, and sustainability advice for a variety of projects. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, engaging in both fieldwork and report preparation, and collaborating closely with senior consultants and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental Statements (ES), and related planning documentation.
  • Conduct environmental baseline studies, field surveys, and site assessments.
  • Prepare technical reports, screening and scoping reports, and regulatory submissions.
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation and planning policy.
  • Support the coordination of specialist inputs from in-house and external consultants.
  • Assist with project management tasks, including scheduling and resource planning.

Requirements

  • Degree (Level 6 or above) in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Planning, or a related discipline.
  • 2–5 years of experience in an environmental consultancy or related role.
  • Solid understanding of UK and NI environmental legislation, planning processes, and EIA regulations.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; experience with GIS is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site work when needed.

Desirable

  • Working toward or holding professional accreditation (e.g., IEMA, CIWEM, RTPI).
  • Experience with Appropriate Assessment (AA), Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), or Sustainability Appraisals.
  • Knowledge of climate risk assessments or net zero planning.
