Our client is a leading global engineering and environmental consultancy, recognised for delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across coastal, marine, and environmental sectors. With a strong international presence and a collaborative, multidisciplinary culture, they are involved in some of the world’s most significant coastal management and infrastructure projects. Their work helps protect communities, manage coastal change, and shape resilient coastlines for the future.

We are seeking an experienced Coastal Engineer / Scientist to play a key technical and leadership role within the Coastal & Marine Environment team. You will lead on a range of coastal projects, providing expertise in hydrodynamics, geomorphology, flooding, and environmental assessment, while also mentoring junior staff and ensuring the quality of technical deliverables. You will contribute to the continued development of the consultancy’s coastal capabilities, oversee project delivery from scoping through to completion, and support business development initiatives including client engagement and tender preparation. Collaboration with engineers, modellers, scientists, and planners will be central to your success in delivering a consistent, high-quality service.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience delivering coastal projects in areas such as hydrodynamics, geomorphology, environmental assessment, or coastal adaptation.

  • Chartered status as an Engineer, Scientist, or Environmentalist (or working towards).

  • Proficiency in wave, tide, and sediment transport numerical modelling and data interpretation.

  • Skilled in GIS software (ArcGIS, MapInfo, or QGIS) and empirical analysis methods.

  • Experience developing and leading technical teams.

  • Strong mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and support junior colleagues.

  • Excellent project management and workload coordination abilities.

  • Strong communication and client-facing skills, with experience in business development and tendering activities.

  • Highly organised, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.

In return, our client offers the opportunity to join a globally respected consultancy with a clear focus on innovation, technical excellence, and career progression. You’ll enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package, flexible working arrangements, and the chance to influence and deliver meaningful projects that make a real difference to coastal resilience and sustainability. If you’re a motivated coastal professional ready to take on a leadership role in a dynamic international environment, we’d love to hear from you — apply today to take the next step in your coastal and marine career.
