We are currently working with a leading international construction specialist that delivers high-value, technically complex environments across sectors including life sciences, pharmaceutical, data centres and commercial fit out.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their Manchester team. This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator looking to work on technically challenging projects within a specialist contractor, with a hybrid working arrangement available.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing competitive and commercially robust tenders, working closely with clients, design teams, subcontractors and the wider bid team throughout the pre-construction process.

About the Role

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for developing accurate tender costs for a range of high-specification fit out projects, identifying risks and opportunities and supporting the business through to successful project handover.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed and competitive estimates for fit out and technical construction projects.

Organise and review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and amendments.

Manage the tendering process and ensure all relevant procedures are followed.

Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.

Liaise with clients and design teams throughout the tender process.

Identify opportunities for design alternatives, cost savings and value engineering.

Prepare and present tenders at adjudication meetings.

Identify and highlight commercial, contractual and project risks within cost proposals.

Attend post-tender negotiations with clients.

Complete Contract Sum Analysis and associated tender documentation where required.

Attend project handover meetings and brief the delivery team on the tender.

Maintain and develop the supply chain in line with procurement and construction requirements.

Build strong relationships with clients and key specifiers to support future tender opportunities.

Undertake project debriefs and use feedback from completed projects to improve future estimating and construction processes.

Identify project-specific risks and ensure these are appropriately reflected within tenders.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Estimator with around 5 years' estimating experience, ideally gained within the fit out or specialist construction sector.

Experience of data centres, cleanrooms, pharmaceutical, life sciences or other controlled-environment projects would be highly advantageous.

However, candidates with a strong background in estimating ceilings, partitions, drywall or similar specialist fit out packages will also be considered.

You should have a strong understanding of:

  • Construction contracts and tender documentation
  • Construction materials and methodologies
  • Estimating and pricing
  • Subcontractor procurement and supply chains
  • Commercial and project risk
  • Negotiation and post-tender processes
  • Value engineering and cost optimisation

You will also need strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, design teams, subcontractors and internal project teams.

What's on Offer?

  • Opportunity to join an established international specialist contractor.
  • Exposure to high-value, technically complex projects.
  • Work across exciting sectors including data centres, life sciences and pharmaceutical.
  • Hybrid working from a Manchester-based office.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.
  • Long-term career progression within a growing organisation.
  • Collaborative working environment with a strong focus on quality and delivery.
