Looking for more than another management title?
This is a senior, commercially accountable role where you will take a Service Division and make it sharper, more profitable and more trusted by customers. Your decisions will be visible. Your growth will be supported. Your impact will be measured in delivery, margin and reputation.
This business is on a determined growth path across multiple markets. They design, build and maintain critical plant and infrastructure end to end, and the Service Division is a central part of that story.
There is no artificial ceiling on what this department can become. If you can lead people, protect margin and raise the standard of service, this is a business in which your career can move to the next level.
You will join a stable, well-funded business that backs its managers from day one. The tools, training and operational support are already in place.
What you will own
- Run the operation end to end: calls, work tasks, records, materials, procurement, invoicing and credit control, all in line with company policy.
- Protect customer relationships. Build one-to-one accounts, hit delivery KPIs, and close complaints quickly and cleanly.
- Lead a mixed team of service engineers, workshop engineers, service coordinators and apprentices. Coach performance, give people room to decide, and raise the standard of the whole unit.
- Tighten the engine room. Develop administration, job-management and credit-control processes so the customer experience is smoother, and the numbers stand up to scrutiny.
- Watch the dials. Track team performance, service KPIs, inventory and supplier delivery. Give feedback. Build improvement plans that actually change the result.
- Think commercially. Read the market, watch competitors and customer demand, then open new workstreams and growth plays for the division.
- Own the budget. Set it, monitor it, and hit the financial targets that sit against the department.
- Price the work. Tender framework and planned-maintenance opportunities with the right margin, a clear view of risk, and full quality and HSQE compliance.
- Keep the division safe and compliant with statutory health, safety and welfare requirements and industry best practice.
- Work across the business. Support Contracts and Sales, share resource, complete warranty inspections and help turn service insight into new revenue.
- Lead the 24/7 out-of-hours facility. Be the first point of contact and control when emergency calls come in, and coordinate a safe, fast response.
Key requirements
- 5–10 years’ proven service management experience, with a strong grip on service delivery and customer interaction — ideally in municipal, industrial or facilities maintenance.
- A track record of leading a service team and being accountable for departmental performance, not just activity.
- Comfortable owning P&L or departmental budgets: pricing work, protecting margin, and making commercially sound calls.
- Able to prioritise a messy, fast-moving workload and coordinate people, plant and materials without dropping the ball.
- You develop people. You train, you delegate properly, and you give the team enough authority to resolve issues on the ground.
- A third-level qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Business Administration (degree or diploma) is expected.
