An international engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to help deliver complex, large-scale infrastructure and building services projects across the UK and beyond. This is an opportunity to play a leading role in shaping resilient, future-ready infrastructure within a collaborative, inclusive, and forward-thinking team environment.

You will contribute to transformational programmes across multiple sectors, delivering innovative electrical engineering solutions from concept through to construction support. Projects span critical national infrastructure and high-profile developments, offering variety, challenge, and the chance to make a meaningful impact.

The role

  • Lead and coordinate technical electrical design activities in accordance with relevant standards and best practice.
  • Manage and mentor design teams, fostering collaboration and maintaining high-quality outputs.
  • Prepare technical briefs, scopes of work, and support bid and proposal submissions.
  • Manage time, resources, and budgets to achieve project milestones and delivery targets.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams across the UK and internationally to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance procedures and technical governance standards.

About you

  • Chartered Electrical Engineer (or equivalent professional accreditation).
  • Proven experience leading electrical design delivery within multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
  • LV and HV power systems
  • Motor control centres and switchgear
  • Industrial/process electrical installations
  • Earthing and bonding design
  • Production of electrical diagrams such as Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and Block Cable Diagrams (BCDs)
  • Hazard studies including HAZOP
  • DSEAR / ATEX installation practices
  • Familiarity with current UK electrical design standards and sector-specific working practices.
  • Proficiency in recognised electrical design and analysis software (e.g. Trimble, Amtech, or equivalent).
