Access Talent Group are currently recruiting for a Civil Engineering SME to lead the delivery of Infrastructure or non-infrastructure water sector projects across the UK.
An established civil engineering specialist is seeking a highly capable and motivated Principal / Associate Civil Engineer to take a leading role in the delivery of water sector projects across the UK. This is a senior technical leadership position, responsible for setting standards, assuring quality, and supporting the development of engineering teams.
You will act as a trusted technical authority and project lead, working collaboratively with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful outcomes from early feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the civil engineering design and delivery of water and wastewater projects from concept to detailed design
Prepare technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings in line with industry best practice
Undertake engineering calculations and analysis using appropriate design tools and software
Coordinate civil designs with mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
Carry out site visits for surveys, inspections, and technical support during construction
Review, approve, and mentor the work of other engineers to ensure high-quality outputs
Develop practical, compliant, and cost-effective engineering solutions
Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and workshops with clients and project stakeholders
Provide technical input into bids, proposals, and strategic development initiatives
Promote strong health, safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement culture
Maintain knowledge of current standards, regulations, and emerging best practice within the UK water industry
About You
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional body (e.g. ICE, IStructE, CIWEM)
Typically 8+ years’ experience in the UK water sector
Proven experience leading and delivering non-infrastructure water projects
Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop others
High level of technical expertise in civil design and construction methodologies
Excellent knowledge of UK design standards, Eurocodes, and water industry regulations
Proficient in relevant design and analysis software (e.g. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Tekla, TEDDS, STAAD or similar)
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required
