Principal Mechanical Engineer (Water)

Cardiff - Permanent role

We are currently working with a leading organisation within the UK water industry who are looking to appoint an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior mechanical engineer with strong water and wastewater experience to take a leading technical role on major infrastructure projects across the UK.

The Role

As Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and expertise across a range of water and wastewater projects, working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

-Leading mechanical engineering design and technical delivery

-Providing technical leadership across water and wastewater projects

-Producing and reviewing mechanical designs, specifications and calculations

-Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders

-Providing technical input from concept and detailed design through to construction and commissioning

-Ensuring designs meet relevant UK standards, regulations and client requirements

-Supporting technical assurance, design reviews and project delivery

-Mentoring and supporting developing engineers

-Identifying and resolving technical challenges throughout the project lifecycle

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

-Significant mechanical engineering experience within the UK water/wastewater sector

-Experience working on major water infrastructure or treatment projects

-Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment

-Experience leading engineering teams and providing technical direction

-Good knowledge of relevant UK standards and industry requirements

-Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

-A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering

-CEng status or a willingness to work towards Chartership would be advantageous
