A respected consultancy based in Edinburgh is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join its growing team. The firm is recognised for delivering high-quality structural engineering solutions across major developments, focusing on large-scale projects such as high-rise residential, student, and build-to-rent accommodation buildings typically ranging from six to twenty-five storeys. With a medium-sized, collaborative team, the consultancy is known for its technical excellence, innovative design, and long-term partnerships with clients and developers across the UK.
The Principal Structural Engineer will take a leading role in the design and delivery of significant structural projects from concept to completion. The position involves close collaboration with architects, clients, and contractors to ensure efficient, practical, and sustainable solutions. Responsibilities will include mentoring junior engineers, contributing to design reviews, and maintaining the highest standards of technical quality throughout all stages of a project.
Key qualifications and experience:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (MEng or equivalent preferred)
- Proven experience working on large multi-storey building projects
- Strong understanding of structural design codes and software (e.g., Tekla, Revit, or similar)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
- Working towards or already achieved chartered status with the ICE or IStructE
