We are recruiting an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major industrial complex in Milan. The project is currently in the pre-construction phase and will progress into full construction in February. This role is ideal for a technically strong PM with proven experience in lab, office, or industrial fit-out environments and a solid understanding of construction requirements linked to machinery installation. You will play a central role in planning, coordination, stakeholder management, and on-site leadership as the project moves into execution.
This is a unique opportunity to join a respected consultancy delivering a high-profile industrial project, offering autonomy, variety, and the chance to shape the project from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Planning
Manage all project phases, from early planning and design coordination to full construction and handover.
Develop project execution strategies, schedules, risk registers, and progress plans aligned with client expectations.
Support the pre-construction programme, ensuring all technical requirements, permits, and design elements are in place before mobilisation.
Fit-Out & Technical Coordination
Oversee laboratory, office, and industrial fit-out works, ensuring seamless integration with utilities, MEP systems, and specialist machinery.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and equipment specialists to resolve technical issues and maintain programme alignment.
Ensure installation processes meet operational, safety, and performance standards.
Site Management
Attend the Milan site 2–3 days per week during the construction phase to monitor progress, quality, safety, and schedule adherence.
Conduct regular site inspections, lead coordination meetings, and oversee contractor performance.
Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
Serve as the main point of contact for the client (Simone) and provide clear updates, reporting, and documentation.
Support the procurement process, including tender evaluations, contractor selection, and scope clarification.
Manage relationships with subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to maintain strong communication and delivery consistency.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all works fully comply with Italian construction codes, local regulations, and project governance.
Maintain accurate project records, meeting minutes, status reports, and change management logs.
Oversee quality assurance and support final testing, commissioning, and handover phases.
Candidate Requirements
Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Project Manager within construction.
Strong background in fit-out projects (lab, office, or industrial), plus familiarity with machinery-heavy installations.
Must have professional work experience in Italy and a strong understanding of Italian regulations and permitting processes.
Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Fluent Italian and English (both essential).
Excellent coordination, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently during the pre-construction phase and transition into a site-driven role once construction starts.
Short notice period or immediate availability preferred.
Working Arrangement
Pre-construction phase: Fully remote (no Rome office presence required).
Construction phase: On-site in Milan 2–3 days per week depending on project needs.
Flexibility required to adapt to project progress, deadlines, and coordination requirements.
