The Role
As a Remote Plan Checker, you will be responsible for reviewing building control plans and technical information to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation.
You will work closely with clients, design teams, building control colleagues and other stakeholders, providing clear technical advice and identifying compliance issues at the design stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed plan checking and technical assessments of building control applications.
- Assess drawings, specifications and supporting technical documentation.
- Check designs against the Building Regulations and Approved Documents.
- Identify non-compliance and provide clear, practical technical guidance.
- Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors and clients.
- Prepare clear reports and records of plan-checking decisions.
- Support the wider Building Control team with technical advice.
- Keep up to date with changes to Building Regulations, legislation and industry standards.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Registered Building Inspector with strong technical knowledge and previous experience in plan checking or building control.
Ideally, you will have:
- Current Registered Building Inspector (RBI) registration.Relevant Class 2 or Class 3 registration, depending on project requirements.
- Strong knowledge of the Building Regulations and Approved Documents.
- Previous experience carrying out plan checking / plan assessment.
- Excellent technical and report-writing skills.
- The confidence to communicate with clients and design professionals.
- A professional, methodical approach and strong attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
