We are working with a leading engineering consultancy with a proud track record in delivering complex and iconic bridge projects across the UK and internationally. They are now seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join their London team, focusing on one of the most exciting and technically challenging sectors in bridge engineering – moveable bridges.
This is a rare opportunity to become part of a niche discipline that blends structural engineering, mechanical systems, and innovative design.
The Role:
- Lead and contribute to the design, assessment, and refurbishment of moveable bridge structures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
- Oversee project stages from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions.
What’s Unique About This Role:
While prior experience in moveable bridge design is highly desirable, it’s not essential. The consultancy is open to bringing in an engineer with strong bridge design expertise and a genuine passion to move into this specialist market. Full technical support and development in moveable bridge engineering will be provided.
About You:
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or close to achieving chartership (ICE or equivalent).
- Significant experience in bridge design and/or assessment.
- Strong technical capability in structural engineering principles.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to immerse yourself in the specialist field of moveable bridges.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
