Assistant Environmental Consultant

ATG are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Environmental Consultant to join a growing environmental team in Cork. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience supporting a range of environmental assessments and compliance projects across Ireland.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams on projects in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, and property development. Your responsibilities will include fieldwork, data analysis, reporting, and liaising with clients and regulators.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with site assessments, environmental monitoring, and sampling (soil, water, air, noise, etc.)
• Support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)
• Conduct desk-based research, including planning reviews and baseline environmental studies
• Compile and review technical reports, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance
• Provide support in environmental permitting, licence applications, and regulatory reporting
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Irish and EU environmental legislation and best practice
• Coordinate with subcontractors, laboratories, and internal teams to deliver project objectives
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies

Requirements:

Essential:

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline
• Strong analytical and writing skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Willingness to undertake fieldwork, including occasional travel across Ireland
• Full clean Irish/EU driving licence

Desirable:

• Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS or QGIS)
• Experience with field equipment and environmental sampling techniques
• Previous internship or consultancy experience
• Knowledge of Irish environmental regulations and EPA guidance
