With offices in both Dublin and Cork, they deliver innovative and sustainable solutions across sectors including infrastructure, energy, property, and industrial development.
Role Overview
ATG are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Principal Geo-Environmental Engineer to lead and grow geo-environmental services. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership on complex ground investigation, contaminated land, and remediation projects, as well as mentoring junior staff and supporting strategic business development across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and interpretation of site investigations and risk assessments (Phase I and Phase II).
- Deliver expert advice on contaminated land risk, remediation strategies, and environmental liability.
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with geotechnical, environmental, and civil engineering colleagues.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, proposals, and tender submissions.
- Engage with clients, regulators (e.g., EPA, local authorities), and stakeholders to provide strategic advice.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Mentor and develop junior team members; contribute to training and knowledge sharing.
- Support business development initiatives including client relationship management and proposal writing.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., CIWEM, IEMA, IGI, Engineers Ireland).
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in geo-environmental or environmental consultancy.
- Strong understanding of Irish and EU environmental regulations, contaminated land frameworks, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Proven track record in managing and delivering complex environmental projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Experience with remediation design and supervision is highly desirable.
