As Rail Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership, coordination, and technical direction of rail projects across Ireland and beyond. This is a strategic role that requires a strong combination of technical excellence, team leadership, and client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead multi-disciplinary rail engineering projects through all stages of design and delivery.
- Provide technical oversight across rail systems including track, signalling, electrification, and civil works.
- Manage a team of engineers and technical staff, providing mentorship and career development.
- Liaise with public and private sector clients including Irish Rail, NTA, and global stakeholders.
- Support business development through bid preparation, client engagement, and proposal writing.
- Ensure compliance with local and international safety and quality standards.
- Develop and implement engineering processes and best practices aligned with global company standards.
- Coordinate with other discipline leads across transportation, environment, and planning.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Railway Engineering (or related discipline).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in rail engineering, including 3+ years in a management or leadership role.
- Proven track record delivering major rail infrastructure projects (preferably in Europe or the UK).
- Strong understanding of railway systems design, construction, and operational integration.
- Experience working within consultancy or client-side organisations.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with Irish transport sector stakeholders (e.g., Irish Rail, TII, NTA).
- Familiarity with BIM and digital delivery platforms.
- Knowledge of sustainability standards in transport infrastructure.
