A multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy based in London is seeking a Senior or Principal Acoustic Consultant to join its newly established Acoustics team. The company delivers high-quality, practical solutions across a wide range of environmental services and is known for fostering a collaborative, innovative, and agile working environment. This position represents a unique opportunity to play a key role in the development and direction of a growing acoustics service line.
The successful candidate will take on a leading role within the Acoustics team, with significant autonomy and influence over its strategic growth. The role will focus on a variety of projects, primarily in environmental acoustics and planning, with the majority of work being desk-based. Responsibilities will include preparing Environmental Statement chapters, contributing to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), producing design reports, and supporting planning appeals. Most projects are regional to London, with some based across the South. Occasional site visits may be required.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Acoustics, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- Proven experience in environmental acoustics and planning consultancy
- Strong track record in writing ES chapters and completing EIA work
- Experience producing design reports and contributing to planning appeals
- Ability to work independently and contribute strategically to team development
- Chartered status (or working towards it) is desirable but not essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with relevant UK planning and environmental regulations
The company offers a flexible and supportive working environment, with a strong emphasis on work-life balance and professional development. The successful candidate will benefit from hybrid working arrangements (typically two days per week in the London office, with flexibility depending on location and individual circumstances), along with the opportunity to shape a new service area within a growing consultancy. Applications are encouraged from those looking to make a meaningful impact within the environmental sector.
