Our client is a well-established engineering consultancy delivering complex civil, marine, and heavy infrastructure projects across the UK. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and site-based delivery expertise, they are involved in large-scale schemes that demand high standards of safety, quality, and coordination. Due to continued project growth, they are now seeking an experienced site-based engineer to join their team and support the successful delivery of major works.
In this role, you will take responsibility for supervising on-site operations, ensuring all activities are delivered in line with project specifications, quality standards, and health & safety requirements. You will coordinate site teams, contractors, and stakeholders, while acting as a key point of contact for client representatives. Your responsibilities will include reviewing RAMS, ITPs, and technical documentation, maintaining accurate site records, reporting on project progress, and supporting the development of junior staff. This position requires a strong background in heavy civils and/or marine works, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and site leadership.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (preferred).
- Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership (preferred).
- Minimum 7 years’ site experience within civil, marine, or heavy infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing large-scale construction teams.
- Strong knowledge of UK construction standards and regulations.
- Excellent understanding of health & safety and quality assurance practices.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and surveying tools.
- Familiarity with document control systems and construction reporting processes.
- Understanding of M&E interface coordination (preferred).
- Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable approach to site challenges.
