With a growing portfolio of public and private sector projects, the firm is expanding its Dublin-based Environmental team to support continued growth in infrastructure, renewable energy, planning, and ESG advisory work.

Role Overview

The Associate – Environmental will play a key leadership role in the delivery and management of environmental projects, providing technical expertise, project direction, and client management. The role involves overseeing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), strategic environmental advice, environmental management systems, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will also contribute to business development and mentor junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage environmental projects from concept to completion, including multi-disciplinary EIAs and environmental reports.
  • Provide strategic environmental advice to clients and project teams in line with Irish and EU legislation.
  • Coordinate input from technical specialists (e.g. ecology, hydrology, air quality, noise, landscape).
  • Liaise with planning authorities, statutory bodies, and stakeholders during project delivery.
  • Ensure quality assurance and compliance with relevant environmental standards and procedures.
  • Support preparation of bids, tenders, and proposals to secure new work.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Mentor and develop junior environmental scientists and consultants.
  • Contribute to the company’s sustainability initiatives and environmental management systems (ISO 14001).

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

  • Degree (and ideally postgraduate qualification) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7+ years’ professional experience in environmental consultancy, planning, or related fields.
  • Proven experience managing EIA and environmental planning projects in Ireland.
  • Strong understanding of Irish and EU environmental legislation and planning processes.
  • Excellent project management and client-facing skills.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and deliver high-quality outcomes under deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Chartered status (e.g. CIWEM, IEMA, or equivalent).
  • Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or large-scale development projects.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools and environmental data management.
  • Experience in business development or client account management.
