Access are currently working with a specialist structural engineering consultancy based in York. They operate on a fully remote model with the occasional site visit across the Midlands and the North of the UK. Their work focuses on delivering technical challenging design and assessment services to the infrastructure sector with a particular emphasis on rail and Highways Structures.
They are known for successfully delivering design schemes for bearing replacements on several Highways England (National Highways) bridges and carried out in-depth structural assessments of a wide range of rail structures. Due to their success they are currently looking to organically grow their business, as such are looking for candidates who are experienced in historical structures.

The Role -
We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Structural Engineering Consultant to join our growing team. You will be involved in a variety of infrastructure projects across highways and rail, contributing your technical expertise to both assessment and design stages. This is a fully remote role with flexible working hours, though you must be available for occasional site visits and client meetings as needed.
Responsibilities -
- Lead and contribute to structural assessments and design of bridges and other infrastructure assets
- Perform complex analyses including non-linear finite element modelling
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design documentation
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
What We’re Looking For -
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (MEng or equivalent preferred)
- Chartered or working towards chartership (CEng MICE or MIStructE)
- Proven experience in bridge design and/or structural assessment
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g. LUSAS, MIDAS, ANSYS, or similar FE tools)
- Strong report writing and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site inspections and client engagements
