CAD Technician

The Opportunity

Access Talent Group is working with an established, independently owned civil and structural engineering consultancy to recruit a CAD Technician for its Dublin office.

The consultancy works on building structures, residential developments, civil infrastructure and conservation projects across Ireland. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers, producing technical drawings and supporting projects from initial design through to construction.

The position would suit a technician with strong AutoCAD skills, good construction knowledge and an interest in developing their experience across civil and structural engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate civil and structural engineering drawings using AutoCAD.Develop general arrangement drawings, plans, sections and construction details from engineers’ designs and sketches.Support drawing production for foundations, building structures and associated site infrastructure.Prepare and update site layouts, drainage drawings and other civil engineering details as required.Coordinate drawings with architectural information and other consultants’ designs.Incorporate design changes and respond to drawing mark-ups and technical comments.Maintain drawing registers, revision records and project filing systems.Check drawings for accuracy, consistency and compliance with project standards before issue.Work closely with engineers to resolve technical queries and meet project deadlines.Assist with site surveys, inspections and recording existing conditions where required.

Requirements

A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Technology, CAD or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.Previous experience producing technical drawings within an engineering consultancy or similar construction environment.Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.An understanding of civil and structural engineering drawings, construction methods and materials.Ability to interpret engineering sketches, architectural drawings and technical information.Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to drawing production.Strong communication and organisational skills.Ability to manage drawing revisions and work to agreed deadlines.Confidence working independently and as part of a project team.

Desirable Experience

Previous experience working on Irish construction projects.Structural detailing experience involving reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry or timber.Experience preparing drainage layouts and site development drawings.Familiarity with Revit or other BIM software.Experience working on refurbishment or conservation projects.
