ATG are working with a leading environmental consultancy based in Naas, specialising in ecological assessment, environmental planning, and sustainable solutions. Their projects span infrastructure, renewable energy, housing, and conservation across Ireland. Due to ongoing growth, ATG are seeking a skilled and motivated Consultant Ecologist to join a dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct ecological surveys (e.g. habitat, bat, bird, mammal, aquatic) in accordance with best practice and seasonal constraints
  • Assist in the preparation of ecological reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Appropriate Assessments (AA), and Biodiversity Chapters for EIARs
  • Support project delivery in compliance with Irish and EU environmental legislation
  • Undertake desktop studies and data analysis using GIS and ecological databases
  • Liaise with clients, statutory agencies, and project stakeholders
  • Provide input into mitigation design and habitat management planning
  • Maintain high technical standards and keep up to date with current ecological guidance and legislation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree (or higher) in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in ecological consultancy or similar role
  • Strong field survey skills (e.g. habitat mapping using Fossitt classification, protected species surveys)
  • Knowledge of Irish wildlife legislation, Habitats Directive, and planning system
  • Proficiency in report writing, data interpretation, and impact assessment
  • Experience using ArcGIS/QGIS desirable
  • Full clean driving licence required
  • Bat licence or other NPWS licences an advantage
