You will play a key role in the assessment, management, and modelling of surface water and groundwater systems in support of a wide range of infrastructure, environmental, and development projects across Ireland.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in hydrology and a passion for solving real-world water resource and environmental challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct hydrological and hydrogeological assessments for environmental impact assessments (EIAs), flood risk assessments (FRAs), and water resource projects.
- Develop and calibrate hydrological models using tools such as HEC-HMS, SWMM, Infoworks ICM, or MIKE SHE.
- Analyze rainfall-runoff data, groundwater levels, and flow monitoring data.
- Support climate resilience planning and nature-based solutions through hydrological input.
- Liaise with project teams including engineers, planners, ecologists, and other environmental professionals.
- Prepare technical reports, planning documentation, and client presentations.
- Ensure compliance with Irish and EU environmental regulations, planning requirements, and water framework directives.
- Represent the company in client meetings, regulatory agency consultations, and stakeholder engagements.
- Contribute to business development through proposal writing and tender submissions.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in environmental or engineering hydrology.
- Proficiency in hydrological modelling software and GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS).
- Strong analytical, numerical, and report writing skills.
- Understanding of Irish water legislation, flood risk guidelines (OPW CFRAM, FRM), and EPA methodologies.
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to undertake fieldwork.
Desirable:
- Chartered status (or working towards) with CIWEM, IEI, or equivalent.
- Experience with flood modelling (e.g., HEC-RAS, TUFLOW), groundwater-surface water interactions, or water quality monitoring.
- Familiarity with Python, R, or other data analysis tools.
- Experience in working with local authorities or on nationally significant infrastructure projects.
