Graduate Transport Planner – Sustainable Transport

Job Description

Our client is looking for a highly motivated, personable and enthusiastic Graduate Transport Planner to join their team in Oxford.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to establish a career in transport planning, sustainable transport and infrastructure. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to a variety of projects, clients and stakeholders.

The role will involve a combination of office-based work, meetings, site visits and travel to project locations, so the successful candidate should be comfortable travelling and working in different environments.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation of transport assessments and technical reports.Support sustainable transport and transport planning projects.Undertake research and analyse transport, traffic and travel data.Assist with transport strategies for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.Consider sustainable travel options, including walking, cycling and public transport.Support project teams with technical analysis, research and report writing.Attend client meetings, site visits and project meetings.Liaise professionally with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders.Travel to different project locations when required.Maintain accurate project records and documentation.Keep up to date with relevant transport planning policies, guidance and industry developments.Work collaboratively with colleagues while also managing individual tasks and deadlines.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

A degree in Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Environmental Studies or a related discipline.A genuine interest in sustainable transport and transport planning.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.A personable and confident approach when dealing with clients and stakeholders.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Good attention to detail.Excellent organisation and time-management skills.A proactive and positive attitude.The ability to work independently and as part of a team.A willingness to learn and develop professionally.Flexibility and willingness to travel to different locations as required.

Previous professional experience is not essential. We are particularly interested in graduates who demonstrate the right attitude, motivation, communication skills and enthusiasm to build a career within transport planning.
