An established environmental and engineering consultancy based in Naas, Co. Kildare is seeking an experienced Hydrogeologist to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hydrogeologist looking to work across a varied portfolio of environmental, infrastructure and development projects throughout Ireland. The successful candidate will be involved in groundwater assessments, hydrogeological investigations, environmental permitting and technical reporting, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering and environmental teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake hydrogeological assessments and groundwater investigations.
- Design and manage groundwater monitoring programmes.
- Interpret groundwater levels, flows and quality data.
- Prepare hydrogeological assessments, technical reports and impact assessments.
- Support environmental and planning applications.
- Assess groundwater and surface-water interactions.
- Undertake groundwater risk assessments and conceptual site models.
- Provide hydrogeological input to EIARs and environmental assessments.
- Support projects involving water abstraction, discharge and dewatering.
- Liaise with clients, regulators, contractors and other technical specialists.
- Conduct site visits, field investigations and groundwater monitoring.
- Manage hydrogeological elements of projects from inception through to completion.
- Provide technical guidance to junior staff.
- Contribute to proposals, tenders and business development activities.
Project Experience

- Quarrying and extractive industries
- Renewable energy projects
- Water and wastewater infrastructure
- Groundwater abstraction schemes
- Dewatering and construction projects

- Environmental permitting and compliance
- Flood and catchment-related studies
Requirements
- Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional experience in hydrogeology or environmental consultancy.
- Strong understanding of groundwater systems and hydrogeological assessment.
- Experience with groundwater monitoring and field investigations.
- Experience producing high-quality technical reports.
- Knowledge of Irish environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
- Chartered status or progress towards professional accreditation would be advantageous.
Desirable Skills
- Groundwater modelling experience.GIS experience.
- Experience with aquifer assessment and characterisation.
- Groundwater abstraction licensing.
- Dewatering assessments.
- Contaminated land and remediation.
- Experience contributing to EIARs.
