Lead Ecologist – Shrewsbury (Hybrid Working Available)

Our client is a thriving and well-established landscape firm based in Shrewsbury, known for delivering high-quality and innovative outdoor environments. As an Employee Owned Trust, the business places strong emphasis on collaboration, professional development, and shared success. With a growing demand for ecological expertise across their projects, they are excited to welcome their first in-house ecologist—a key strategic hire that marks the beginning of an ambitious new chapter.

The Lead Ecologist will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the ecology division. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is both technically proficient and a confident communicator. The role involves conducting ecological surveys and producing technical reports, offering specialist advice to clients and colleagues, and managing projects from inception to delivery. You’ll also be engaging with stakeholders, contributing to landscape planning and design, and laying the foundation for building a future team as the division expands.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience as an ecologist, with a strong background in project management
  • Skilled in undertaking and coordinating ecological surveys and assessments
  • Experience engaging with clients, stakeholders, and statutory bodies
  • Ability to provide clear technical guidance and reporting
  • Ambition to lead and grow a new ecology team within the business
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to the Shrewsbury office (with hybrid working available)
  • CIEEM membership or eligibility (desirable)

As well as becoming part of a supportive and forward-thinking company, the successful candidate will benefit from a range of perks including hybrid working, two CPD days per year, two paid professional subscriptions, and an annual company trip. If you're an experienced ecologist ready to take the next step in your career and lead something new, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now to be part of something you can shape from the ground up.
