Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to be based in the Amsterdam region, supporting a strong and growing pipeline of mission critical data centre projects.
From a Building Services engineering perspective, you will take ownership of mechanical design delivery for commercial heating plantrooms and prefabricated mechanical packages within the data centre sector. Working alongside an established design team using the latest AutoCAD and MEP 3D modelling platforms, you will coordinate all M&E services within offsite fabrication packages to ensure they are fully compliant, buildable, and delivered to client specifications and current regulations.
This role will see you leading the mechanical design process from contract award through to design approval and readiness for fabrication and installation — acting as a key technical interface between design, contracts, suppliers, and commissioning teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for mechanical project delivery from contract award to design sign-off and fabrication readiness.
- Lead and review engineering designs to ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and statutory standards.
- Coordinate mechanical and M&E services within offsite prefabrication packages to ensure they are fully buildable and compliant.
- Deliver completed mechanical design information for seamless handover to contracts teams for fabrication and installation.
- Manage BIM coordination and design development in collaboration with the internal design team.
- Chair and lead weekly internal and client-facing design meetings.
- Define project scope, deliverables, and technical requirements at early stages.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, contracts managers, and commissioning teams to ensure coordinated project delivery.
- Support the development and expansion of internal M&E design capability.
- Attend design and coordination meetings across Ireland, the UK, and Europe as required.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with stakeholders and clients.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, modern construction methods, and integrated design solutions.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in mechanical building services engineering within the mission critical/data centre sector.
- Strong understanding of commercial heating plantrooms, prefabricated mechanical systems, and coordinated M&E design.
- Experience working with BIM, AutoCAD, and 3D MEP design packages.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination in a live project environment.
- Strong knowledge of European building regulations and data centre compliance standards.
- Confident chairing meetings and managing client-facing technical discussions.
- Experience delivering projects through fabrication and installation readiness.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Why join us?
- Work on high-profile mission critical data centre projects in a rapidly expanding market.
- Be part of a technically strong and collaborative engineering team.
- Opportunity to influence design standards and modern methods of construction.
- Structured rotation pattern (10/4) supporting work-life balance.
- Private Accomodation & Flights covered!
- Highly Competitive salary and progression opportunities.
