Project Engineer / Work Preparator

Location: Amstelveen, Netherlands | Office & Site-Based

The Role

We are looking for a Project Engineer / Work Preparator to work closely with the Project Manager across multiple construction projects.

This is a broad role covering pre-construction, engineering, procurement, commercial control and site delivery, with regular site visits and a clear pathway into Project Engineering and Project Management.

Key Responsibilities

Develop construction programmes and mobilisation plansReview drawings, specifications and scopesIdentify technical, programme and logistical risksCoordinate materials, procurement and long-lead itemsPrepare RAMS, Method Statements, RFIs and technical submittalsProvide technical support and resolve site queriesMonitor progress, labour, productivity and costsTrack variations, delays and commercial risksSupport tendering, estimating and subcontractor procurementVisit sites and coordinate upcoming requirementsEnsure drawings, materials, approvals and subcontractors are ready when requiredSupport the Project Manager across multiple projects

Development

The role offers a structured progression towards:

Work Preparation → Project Engineering → Work Package Ownership → Project Management

You will gain exposure to the technical, commercial, planning and operational aspects of construction, with increasing responsibility as your experience develops.

Ideal Candidate

- Experience as a Project Engineer, Site Engineer, Work Preparator or similar

- Someone who wants to climb the ladder

- Construction/engineering background

- Good understanding of drawings, programmes and project delivery

- Comfortable working with subcontractors and site teams

- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

- Willing to travel regularly to construction sites

- Open to relocation or rotation
