A well-established and highly regarded multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join their growing Bristol team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Structural Engineer who is looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to take ownership of projects, develop client relationships and mentor junior members of the team.
The consultancy has an established presence across the UK and delivers a diverse portfolio of technically challenging projects across the buildings, infrastructure, transport, residential, commercial, education, healthcare and industrial sectors.
Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to work on a varied range of projects while developing your technical and leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and technical delivery of projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.
- Take responsibility for the technical quality, programme and delivery of structural engineering packages.
- Develop efficient and innovative structural solutions using steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber and other construction materials.
- Prepare, review and approve structural calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports.
- Manage and coordinate structural engineering resources across multiple projects.
- Liaise directly with clients, architects, contractors and other members of the design team.
- Attend project meetings, site inspections and surveys where required.
- Check and review technical work produced by other engineers and technicians.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to Graduate, Junior and Senior Engineers.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, Building Regulations and client requirements.
- Assist with project planning, fee proposals, resource management and commercial delivery.
- Contribute to bids, tenders and wider business development opportunities.Support the continued growth and development of the Bristol structural engineering team.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Significant UK structural engineering design experience within a consultancy environment
- .Proven ability to take technical ownership of projects and lead structural design teams.
- Chartered Engineer status with IStructE or ICE, or demonstrable progress towards Chartership.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to deald irectly with clients and other project stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring and developing less experienced engineers.Commercial awareness and an understanding of project budgets, programmes and resource requirements
