An established and highly regarded engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Project Director to join their growing team in Dublin.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced project delivery professional with a strong background in major infrastructure, transport or multidisciplinary engineering projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of major projects across Ireland, with the position likely to have significant involvement in MetroLink and other major public transport infrastructure programmes.

You will take a strategic and hands-on role in leading complex projects, managing senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams, while helping to develop the consultancy's position within Ireland's rapidly expanding infrastructure market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior leadership and direction across major infrastructure projects.
  • Take overall responsibility for project delivery, programme, budget, risk and quality.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams comprising engineers, consultants and technical specialists.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for clients, contractors and project partners.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key public and private-sector stakeholders.
  • Oversee project planning, procurement, design development and construction delivery.
  • Provide strategic input into project and programme development.
  • Manage complex interfaces between engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
  • Review and challenge technical and commercial deliverables.
  • Lead project governance, reporting and risk management processes.
  • Support the resolution of complex technical, contractual and delivery issues.
  • Mentor and develop senior project managers and technical staff.
  • Contribute to bids, tenders and strategic business development opportunities.
  • Help grow the consultancy's presence within Ireland's major infrastructure and transport sectors.

Major Projects & Sector Experience

The role is expected to have involvement in MetroLink and other major transport infrastructure programmes in Dublin, alongside a wider portfolio of significant engineering projects.

Relevant experience could include:

  • Metro and light rail
  • Rail and public transport infrastructure
  • Major roads and highways
  • Transport interchanges
  • Tunnelling and underground infrastructure
  • Bridges and structures
  • Utilities and infrastructure upgrades
  • Major urban development
  • Large-scale multidisciplinary capital programmes

Experience working with organisations such as Transport Infrastructure Ireland, the National Transport Authority or Irish Rail would be advantageous.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years' experience within engineering, infrastructure or construction.
  • Significant experience managing large-scale and complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Proven experience operating at Project Director, Programme Director, Senior Project Manager or equivalent level.
  • Strong commercial and contractual understanding.
  • Excellent knowledge of project governance, risk, programme and cost management.
  • Demonstrable experience managing senior clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional qualification would be highly desirable.
  • Experience delivering major transport infrastructure projects in Ireland or the UK would be advantageous.
