Project Engineer – HV Substations (Data Centre Projects)

Location: Lisbon or Porto, Portugal
Working Arrangement: Hybrid (4 days office/site, 1 day remote working per week)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

 

About the Role

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing team delivering high-voltage (HV) substation projects supporting some of Europe's largest data centre developments.

Based from our Lisbon or Porto office, you will play a key role in the design, coordination, and delivery of HV substations from initial concept through to commissioning and energisation. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams, you will help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of HV substation projects throughout the full project lifecycle
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities
  • Review and manage technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and design submissions
  • Liaise with clients, utility providers, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met
  • Monitor project schedules, technical deliverables, and key milestones
  • Assist with design reviews and ensure compliance with applicable standards and grid requirements
  • Support risk management, change control, and project reporting activities
  • Participate in site visits, inspections, testing, and commissioning activities as required
  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Previous experience working on HV/MV substation, transmission, distribution, or power infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of substation design, electrical systems, and project delivery processes
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders.Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and technical documentation management
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluent English language skills; Portuguese would be advantageous
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a project environment.

 

Desirable Experience

  • Experience delivering projects within the data centre sector
  • Knowledge of utility connection processes and grid compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with commissioning and energisation activities
  • Experience working within EPC or design-and-build project environments.
