About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Protection & Control Engineer to join the delivery team on major HV substation EPC projects across Finland and Norway, supporting the critical infrastructure powering hyperscale data centres throughout the Nordics.
Working alongside engineering, construction and commissioning teams, you will be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of protection and control systems, ensuring the safe and reliable energisation of HV substations. Key Responsibilities
- Install, test and commission protection and control systems for HV substations.
- Configure and verify protection relays from manufacturers such as Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider Electric or SEL.
- Perform secondary injection testing, functional testing and end-to-end testing of protection schemes.
- Support the commissioning and energisation of HV substation equipment.
- Interpret protection schemes, wiring diagrams and control schematics.
- Identify and resolve protection and control system faults during installation and commissioning.
- Coordinate with electrical, SCADA, commissioning and construction teams throughout project delivery.
- Prepare commissioning documentation, test reports and handover packages.
- Ensure all protection systems comply with project specifications, client standards and industry regulations.
- Support FAT, SAT and final client acceptance testing.
- Maintain the highest standards of quality, safety and technical compliance on site.
- Provide technical support throughout project execution and final handover.
Requirements
- Degree or qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working on HV/MV substation projects.
- Strong knowledge of protection and control systems within HV substations.
- Experience commissioning protection relays such as Siemens SIPROTEC, ABB Relion, GE Multilin, Schneider Electric or SEL.
- Experience with secondary injection testing equipment such as Omicron (highly desirable).
- Understanding of IEC 61850 communication protocols and substation automation systems is advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret protection schematics, logic diagrams and electrical drawings.
- Experience working within EPC environments is highly desirable.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent English is essential.
- EU passport or unrestricted right to work within the EU is preferred.
