Our client is a global, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering complex and high-profile projects across the UK and internationally. With continued investment in their UK geotechnical capability, they are now strengthening their Cambridge office as part of a wider growth strategy supported by major infrastructure, development, and environmental frameworks. They have a particularly strong focus on water, utilities, and infrastructure projects.

We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to play a key role in the technical delivery of geotechnical projects while supporting the growth of the local team. The role will involve leading elements of design delivery, overseeing technical outputs, and supporting junior engineers, alongside contributing to client relationships and project development. You will work closely with project managers and senior leaders to ensure high-quality, commercially sound project delivery across a varied portfolio, including water and utilities infrastructure schemes.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Chartered Geotechnical Engineer or working towards chartership (CEng, CSci, or equivalent).

  • Typically 7–10+ years’ experience in geotechnical engineering.

  • Strong background in geotechnical design, analysis, and reporting.

  • Experience delivering projects within a consultancy environment.

  • Experience on water projects, utilities infrastructure, or related civil engineering schemes.

  • Ability to technically review work and mentor junior engineers.

  • Good commercial awareness and experience supporting project delivery and client engagement.

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams.

In return, our client offers the opportunity to join a market-leading consultancy with access to major national frameworks and a clear pathway for career progression. You’ll benefit from a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, flexible working arrangements, and the chance to develop your technical and leadership skills within a well-resourced and supportive environment. If you are a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with water or utilities experience looking to take the next step in your career within a globally recognised consultancy, we encourage you to apply today.
