Our client is a well-established British consultancy specialising in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering services, with a strong track record built over several decades. Following recent organisational changes and the award of new contracts, they are strengthening their leadership structure within the geotechnical team. Based in Surrey, this consultancy is known for its technical rigour, long-standing client relationships, and high-quality project delivery across a range of infrastructure and development sectors.
We are seeking a Senior or Principal Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Engineer to act as the second-in-command within the geotechnical team. Working closely with the newly appointed Technical Director, you will oversee technical outputs, support project delivery, and begin stepping into broader leadership, management, and operational responsibilities. This is a key role for someone looking to transition from senior technical delivery into team leadership, with involvement in mentoring junior staff, reviewing technical work, and contributing to the strategic direction of the geotechnical function.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Senior or Principal level experience in geotechnical and/or geoenvironmental engineering.
- Strong technical background with experience in design, investigation, and interpretative reporting.
- Proven consultancy experience delivering projects in the UK.
- Ability to review and oversee technical outputs and ensure quality standards are met.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development.
- Interest in leadership, management, and operational responsibilities.
- Chartered status (CEng, CSci, or equivalent) or working towards chartership is preferred.
- Ability to commute to Surrey.
