Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor / M&E Quantity SurveyorMain Purpose of Role
Deliver Mechanical & Electrical commercial services across assigned projects.
Promote best practice in health, safety, and environmental matters in collaboration with the SHQE department.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral
Provide support to the Managing Quantity Surveyor on all commercial matters within assigned project(s).
Team Working
Foster and promote a culture of commercial awareness within the project team.
Ensure all site teams adhere to company procedures and governance standards.
Lead, motivate, and manage junior staff to support their development and performance.
Delegate appropriate tasks to junior team members while maintaining overall responsibility and accountability.
Commercial Service Delivery
Prepare internal commercial reports and any other required documentation.
Prepare valuations and applications for payment with full contractual supporting evidence.
Produce cost reports for the client with accurate and compliant supporting documentation.
Prepare and manage subcontract and materials procurement schedules.
Administer subcontractor and supplier accounts, including requisitions, monitoring payments, and agreeing final accounts.
Carry out contract administration, including change management and maintaining all required registers.
Identify commercial risks and opportunities, including value engineering and change management.
Support cost control and cost-mitigation activities.
Ensure accurate project records and documentation are maintained.
Implement and maintain work breakdown structures (WBS) in line with client and contract requirements.
Assist in preparing Cost-to-Complete reports and project Risk Analysis Registers.
Prepare change events, extension of time claims, and final accounts.
Carry out quantity measurement in accordance with standard methods of measurement.
Maintain strong client relationship management.
Support maximisation of the project’s cash position, including WIP control, cash flow management, and improvement plans.
Assist in producing and maintaining margin improvement plans for the project.
Perform any additional duties as required by the line manager.
Corporate Development
Attend client engagement and feedback events at the appropriate level.
Contribute to and participate in business improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
Working towards Chartered status (MRICS) or equivalent (preferred).
Full driving licence.
Relevant competency skills cards (as required for the role).
Strong commercial awareness with excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
Experience managing Mechanical & Electrical work packages and subcontractors.
Ability to estimate Mechanical & Electrical tenders from first principles.
Strong estimating and take-off experience.
Experience in civil engineering projects, electrical projects, renewable energy projects, cabling projects, and remeasurable works.
