A growing, independent civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Site Manager with project management capabilities to join their expanding team, delivering key projects within UK water frameworks. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a varied and hands-on leadership role within a close-knit business, where your contribution will directly influence project outcomes and client relationships. You’ll be responsible for managing on-site operations while also taking a proactive role in planning, coordination, and delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
The Role
Working closely with the company’s senior management and framework partners, you will:
- Oversee day-to-day site management of water infrastructure and civil works projects.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage site resources, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Support or lead project planning, scheduling, and progress reporting.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Liaise with clients, designers, and framework partners to maintain strong communication and relationships.
- Monitor budgets, timelines, and materials to achieve cost-effective project delivery.
- Lead site briefings, toolbox talks, and ensure good site discipline and performance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and identify opportunities for innovation on site.
About You
You will be a proactive and organised professional, confident in leading site operations while also contributing to the wider project management process.
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Site Manager or Project Manager within civil engineering or utilities.
- Background in water industry projects (clean or wastewater).
- Good understanding of CDM regulations, health & safety, and quality management.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities on fast-paced projects.
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to sites.
Desirable:
- SMSTS / SSSTS certification.
- CSCS card (Manager level).
- First Aid at Work.
- Experience working on AMP framework contracts or with major UK water companies.
