Access Talent Group are currently recruiting for an Associate or Associate Director in Civil Engineering within their Infrastructure team being based in the south of England.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Associate Civil Engineer to lead and develop an established and growing civil engineering sub-team based on the South Coast of England. They are currently located in Winchester which will transition to a new office in Southampton during 2025.

This role provides the opportunity to guide a multidisciplinary team, managing a diverse portfolio of projects from inception to completion. It is an Associate-level appointment, but offers a clear pathway for progression to Associate Director as the team and business continue to grow.

The civil engineering and water team is part of a wider Eco systems within the Water and Energy sector so will cover projects in the Utilities, Flood risk, Drainage, Roads and transport and Development Infrastructure sector

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, resource management, and commercial performance of multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Technical Leadership: Direct the preparation and review of technical deliverables, including drawings, reports, specifications, and presentations.
  • Team Management: Line manage a small team of engineers and technicians, supporting recruitment, conducting performance appraisals, and fostering the professional development of team members.
  • Business Development: Build and maintain strong client and collaborator networks, proactively seeking and securing new business opportunities to support growth plans on the South Coast.
  • Culture and Inclusion: Promote an inclusive and equitable workplace culture, encouraging diversity and collaboration.
  • Technical Excellence: Contribute to a culture of technical excellence by supporting skills development within the team and driving continuous improvement in technical delivery.

Technical Experience 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions and growing a successful team.

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional institution (such as ICE or equivalent).
  • Qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong technical expertise in one or more areas relevant to civil engineering, including:
  • Earthworks
  • Roads and streets
  • Public realm
  • Utilities
  • Flood risk and drainage
     

Wider interest or knowledge of complementary aspects of infrastructure development, such as:

  • Planning and project management
  • Sustainability and carbon management
  • Infrastructure resilience

 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and project teams.
  • Proven ability to manage complex workloads and multiple concurrent projects effectively.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful project delivery in the UK and/or internationally.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Commitment to design excellence and contributing to continuous quality improvement.
