Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing British design consultancy specializing in maritime projects. Backed by strong financial support and a leadership team with extensive industry experience, they offer the best of both worlds—a startup-style environment with none of the risks. With a focus on innovation and technical excellence, this consultancy is delivering world-class engineering solutions for ports, harbours, jetty design, quay walls, and other key maritime infrastructure projects. As they expand, they are looking to strengthen their leadership team with an experienced and ambitious maritime design engineer who can help shape the future of the business.

In this role, you will step into a critical leadership position, acting as the second-in-command to the company’s technical director. You will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of complex civil maritime engineering projects, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating closely with clients to ensure high-quality outcomes. Your technical expertise will be instrumental in driving innovative solutions for port and harbour developments, including quay walls, jetties, and other coastal infrastructure. Additionally, you will play a key role in project management, client engagement, and business development to support the company’s continued growth.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in the design and delivery of maritime infrastructure, including ports, harbours, quay walls, wharfs and jetties.

  • Strong technical proficiency in civil and structural engineering principles related to maritime projects.

  • Experience in leading project teams, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to business development.

  • Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., PLAXIS, LUSAS, STAAD, or similar maritime engineering tools).

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage clients and project partners effectively.

  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a passion for driving innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.
