Access Talent group are working with a growing, design-focused engineering consultancy is expanding its civil engineering team at a newly established regional office. The practice delivers civil engineering design and detailing services to a broad client base across the UK, working on projects that range from small, individual developments to large, multi-million-pound schemes.
The project portfolio is diverse and includes multi-storey residential buildings, housing developments, educational facilities, and commercial projects.
The Role
Working as part of a collaborative civils team alongside senior engineers, engineers and technicians, this is a varied role offering exposure to all stages of project delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
Design Development
Supporting the design of civil engineering schemes from concept through to detailed design, including roads, drainage, earthworks and associated infrastructure. Ensuring solutions are technically robust, practical and aligned with client requirements.
Technical Delivery
Undertaking detailed design, preparing calculations, reports and technical assessments in accordance with relevant standards and guidance. Producing design models, drawings and documentation using appropriate industry software.
Project Support
Assisting with the technical coordination of projects, liaising with clients, contractors and other stakeholders to help ensure designs are delivered on programme and within budget.
Quality Assurance
Producing clear and accurate drawings, reports, specifications and other documentation, ensuring compliance with internal quality processes and industry standards.
Client & Team Collaboration
Supporting client meetings and presentations where required, and working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to resolve technical issues and maintain project momentum.
Site Involvement
Undertaking site visits, surveys and inspections to inform design development and monitor project progress.
Health & Safety
Contributing to safe design practices, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and participating in design risk assessments.
Professional Development
Actively engaging in training and development opportunities to broaden technical knowledge and career progression.
Software Exposure
- The role offers the opportunity to work with a range of industry-standard tools, including:
- AutoCAD (including vehicle tracking)
- Civil 3D for 3D ground and highway modelling
- MicroDrainage for drainage design
- PDS for road, drainage, traffic sign and road marking design
About You
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other recognised civil engineering design software
- A full, clean driving licence
- A proactive and self-motivated approach with a willingness to take responsibility
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- A willingness to learn and develop
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- A sound understanding of civil engineering principles, relevant design standards and regulations relating to highways, drainage, flood risk and utilities
- Awareness of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
