EHS Manager – Data Centre Construction

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced EHS Manager to join a leading data centre delivery organisation working on a major construction project in Ireland.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to take a key role within a high-profile, large-scale data centre project. Reporting directly to the EHS Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing Environmental, Health & Safety activities across the project, ensuring all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with relevant legislation, company standards, and industry best practice.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance while working closely with project management, construction teams, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee project compliance with the company’s Environmental, Health & Safety Management System.Develop, implement, and maintain Construction Stage Health & Safety Plans.Monitor and report on EHS performance, producing regular reports and metrics for management review.Keep senior management informed of EHS performance, initiatives, risks, and ongoing progress.Ensure compliance with all relevant Irish and EU Environmental, Health & Safety legislation.Implement and maintain project-specific Environmental, Health & Safety Plans.Review and support the development of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Safe Plans of Action (SPA), and Permit-to-Work systems.Monitor compliance with the Project Execution Plan and associated EHS standards.Promote a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the project.Manage COSHH assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented and maintained.Monitor safety observations, interventions, incidents, and corrective actions through to close-out.Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.Identify potential EHS risks and implement effective mitigation measures.Ensure accurate records are maintained for statutory inspections, audits, training, and other EHS documentation.Monitor subcontractor compliance with project and company EHS policies and procedures.Coordinate and manage EHS inductions, toolbox talks, training, and awareness programmes.Ensure suitable PPE is available, maintained, and correctly used across the project.Lead or support accident and incident investigations, ensuring appropriate reporting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.Work collaboratively with construction and project management teams to ensure EHS requirements are integrated into all stages of project delivery.Provide professional EHS advice and guidance to site teams, management, and subcontractors.

About You

We are looking for a confident and experienced EHS professional with a strong background in major construction projects. You will have the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced site environment while maintaining a strong focus on compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will have:

A degree or relevant qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety, or a related discipline.A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing EHS on large-scale construction projects.Previous data centre construction experience is highly desirable.Strong knowledge of current Irish and EU Health & Safety legislation.Proven experience managing EHS requirements across complex construction environments.Strong understanding of risk assessments, method statements, permits, COSHH, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.Experience managing and monitoring subcontractor EHS performance.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong leadership and organisational abilities.The confidence to challenge unsafe practices and drive improvements.Strong reporting and documentation skills.Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and EHS reporting systems.The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider project team.A flexible and proactive approach to changing project requirements and priorities.A genuine commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance.
