Our client is a leading international engineering and environmental consultancy with a strong and growing geo-environmental capability across the UK. With a national team of over 100 geo-environmental professionals and a well-established northern division of around 30 staff, they deliver high-quality consultancy services to both public and private sector clients. Their Leeds office, currently home to a team of 11 (UK wide over 100), plays a key role in supporting major infrastructure and development projects across the north of England, working with clients such as water utilities, government bodies, and large-scale developers.
We are seeking a Geo-environmental Consultant / Engineering Geologist to join the Leeds team, supporting a wide range of projects across the region. In this role, you will undertake desk studies, develop conceptual site models, and design and manage ground investigations, alongside producing interpretative reports and supporting remediation and earthworks strategies. You will also be involved in site supervision, mining risk assessments, and construction phase support. The role offers exposure to multidisciplinary projects, with responsibilities including client liaison, tender support, and assisting with project and financial management, making it ideal for a well-rounded consultant looking to progress within a collaborative and technically strong environment.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Degree or MSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline.
- Experience managing and supervising ground investigations and laboratory testing.
- Strong background in geotechnical and geo-environmental assessment and reporting.
- Experience undertaking mining risk assessments and investigations.
- Understanding of geotechnical design principles, including foundation types and ground improvement techniques.
- Experience preparing earthworks specifications and supervising earthworks.
- Experience contributing to remediation strategies.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site work and supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong report writing ability.
- Good understanding of health & safety, environmental management, and CDM regulations.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
