Our client is a highly regarded, independent engineering consultancy with a strong international reputation for delivering specialist engineering solutions across complex infrastructure projects. The business has a long-established presence within the transport, civil and infrastructure sectors and works with major clients across the UK and internationally. With a collaborative, technically driven culture, the organisation offers engineers the opportunity to work on challenging projects while contributing to the continued growth of its specialist capabilities.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join the Birmingham team. This is a senior technical position, offering the opportunity to take a leading role in the delivery of geotechnical engineering projects across the UK, with potential exposure to significant international schemes.
You will be involved in providing technical leadership across a varied project portfolio, from early-stage feasibility and ground investigation through to detailed design and construction. The role will also involve working closely with other engineering disciplines, clients and project stakeholders, while supporting the development of less experienced engineers.
About You
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with substantial relevant industry experience.
- Strong professional experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally gained within a consultancy environment.
- Proven experience leading geotechnical design and providing technical input across complex infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical analysis and design, including areas such as foundations, slopes, earthworks, retaining structures and ground improvement.
- Experience managing technical deliverables, reviewing calculations and reports, and providing robust engineering solutions.
- Confident working directly with clients and other project stakeholders, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrable experience mentoring and supporting junior and intermediate engineers, with an interest in developing technical capability within the team.
- Chartered status with the ICE, IOM3 or an equivalent professional institution would be highly desirable.
Why Apply?
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior geotechnical engineer to take a genuine leadership role within a specialist and internationally recognised engineering consultancy. You will have the chance to work on technically demanding projects, influence engineering solutions and contribute to some of the UK's most interesting infrastructure developments.
