We are working with a leading international engineering and infrastructure consultancy with a strong presence across the UK and overseas. The organisation delivers major multidisciplinary projects across transportation, buildings, infrastructure, energy and civil engineering, with a growing portfolio of technically challenging projects in the UK. Its London operation offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists on high-profile, complex schemes.
We are looking for an experienced Head of Geotechnics to lead and develop the geotechnical function within the London business. This is a senior leadership position combining technical leadership, project delivery, client management and business development. The successful candidate will play a key role in growing the geotechnical team, developing technical capability, winning new work and providing senior input across major UK and international projects.
- Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally gained within a major engineering consultancy or multidisciplinary environment.
- Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional institution, such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
- Proven experience leading geotechnical teams, including recruitment, mentoring, technical development and performance management.
- Strong technical background across geotechnical design, ground investigation, foundations, earthworks, retaining structures, slopes and/or other major infrastructure applications.
- Demonstrable experience managing and delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects from concept and feasibility through detailed design and construction.
- Strong commercial and client-facing capabilities, with experience developing relationships, identifying opportunities and contributing to successful bids and tenders.
- Ability to provide authoritative technical leadership, review and assurance while working collaboratively with civil, structural, transport and other engineering disciplines.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ambition to help grow a high-performing geotechnical team and establish the London office as a centre of technical excellence.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious senior geotechnical professional to take ownership of a growing technical function, influence major projects and play a significant role in the continued expansion of a highly respected international engineering consultancy.
