Our client is an international engineering and environmental consultancy that has recently expanded its UK footprint through the acquisition of several specialist businesses. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and a growing portfolio of multidisciplinary projects, they continue to invest in their geoenvironmental capability across the UK. As part of this growth, they are now seeking a Geoenvironmental Engineer or Engineering Geologist to join their team in the Manchester area.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, supervision, and management of geo-environmental site investigations, alongside undertaking contaminated land assessments and supporting remediation strategies. You will contribute to soil, groundwater, and ground gas risk assessments, prepare technical reports, and assist in the development of remedial options appraisals and validation reports. The role also includes client liaison, fee proposal preparation, and project management responsibilities, making it ideal for a well-rounded consultant looking to progress their career within a growing international business. The position is based around Manchester, with 1–2 days per week in the office and the remainder split between site work and flexible working.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in geoenvironmental engineering or engineering geology.

  • BSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline (MSc advantageous but not essential).

  • Experience in soil and rock logging to BS5930.

  • Strong knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation, planning guidance, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Experience designing, supervising, and managing geo-environmental site investigations.

  • Experience in land contamination risk assessment (soil, groundwater, ground gas, DQRA).

  • Involvement in remedial options appraisals, remedial design, specifications, and validation reporting.

  • Experience preparing fee proposals and managing project budgets.

  • Excellent project management and communication skills.

  • Chartered or working towards chartership through a relevant professional institution.

  • Full UK driving licence.

In return, our client offers the opportunity to join a growing international consultancy with a strong pipeline of work and genuine scope for career progression. You will benefit from a competitive salary and benefits package, flexible working arrangements, professional development support toward chartership, and the chance to work on diverse and technically engaging projects. If you are a motivated geoenvironmental professional looking to take the next step in your career within a forward-thinking consultancy, we encourage you to apply today.
