The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Lead to join a major data centre construction project in Belgium.
This is a senior, site-based H&S position responsible for leading health and safety activities across the project, working closely with project management, contractors, subcontractors and senior stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of safety are maintained throughout construction.
The role offers an excellent opportunity to work on a major European data centre project, with rotation, a strong package and long-term opportunities available.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Health & Safety activities across the project and site teamsProvide expert H&S advice and support to project management and site personnel
- Drive the implementation of the project Safety Management SystemDevelop, review and monitor Risk Assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety reviewsMonitor high-risk activities including lifting operations, temporary works and work at height
- Oversee site inductions, toolbox talks and safety trainingMonitor permits, emergency procedures and other project-specific safety requirements
- Work closely with subcontractors, contractors and site management teams
- Lead and support accident, incident and near-miss investigationsIdentify root causes and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented
- Monitor and report on project H&S performance and KPIs
- Participate in safety meetings and committeesMaintain strong relationships with Project Managers, Site Managers and senior leadership
- Promote a proactive and positive safety culture across the project
Requirements
- Relevant degree, diploma or professional qualification in Health & Safety / Occupational Safety
- 4+ years' experience within construction Health & SafetyStrong understanding of construction H&S legislation, regulations and best practices
- Experience working on large-scale construction projectsStrong experience with RAMS, risk assessments, audits and incident investigation
- Excellent contractor and subcontractor management skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proactive, hands-on approach to site safetyData centre, industrial, pharmaceutical, high-voltage or other complex construction experience would be highly advantageous
