About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical QA/QC Manager to join an established mechanical engineering and contracting business delivering the full mechanical package on a major data centre project in Belgium.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for mechanical quality assurance and quality control across the project, ensuring all installations are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications, standards and client requirements.
You will work closely with the Mechanical Project Manager, site teams, subcontractors, consultants, main contractor and client, acting as a key point of contact for all mechanical quality matters.
The company has recently secured a new €1.2 million contract with a major European General Contractor, providing a strong pipeline of further projects across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all mechanical QA/QC activities across the project.
- Develop, implement and maintain project-specific Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Manage inspections, testing, quality documentation and approvals throughout the mechanical installation.
- Ensure mechanical works comply with approved drawings, specifications, standards and project requirements.
- Review mechanical installation methods, technical submissions, material approvals and inspection documentation.
- Coordinate inspections with the client, consultants, main contractor and relevant authorities.
- Manage NCRs, observations, corrective actions and quality close-out.
- Monitor subcontractor quality performance and ensure compliance with project quality procedures.
- Maintain accurate inspection and quality records.
- Lead mechanical quality meetings and provide regular reporting to the project management team.
- Work closely with construction and engineering teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Support testing, commissioning, snagging and final handover.
- Ensure complete and accurate QA/QC and handover documentation is maintained.
Mechanical Scope
The role will cover QA/QC across the full mechanical package, including areas such as:
- HVAC systems
- Chilled water systems
- Mechanical pipework
- Heating and cooling systems
- Ventilation
- Pumps and mechanical plant
- Water services
- Mechanical plant rooms
- Data centre cooling infrastructure
- BMS and controls interfaces
- Pressure testing and flushing
- Testing, commissioning and handover
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical QA/QC Manager, Mechanical Quality Manager, QA/QC Engineer or similar.
- Strong experience within large-scale mechanical construction projects.
- Previous experience on data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, commercial or other mission-critical projects is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical building services, HVAC and mechanical installations.
- Experience developing and managing ITPs, Quality Plans, inspection records and handover documentation.
- Strong understanding of mechanical testing, inspection and commissioning processes.
- Experience managing NCRs, corrective actions and quality close-out.
- Previous experience working for a mechanical contractor or specialist MEP contractor.
- Comfortable dealing directly with clients, consultants and main contractors.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality management.
- Fluent English.
- Willingness to work on a rotational basis in Belgium.
