ATG are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Ecologist Consultant to join a growing team in Belfast.
You will lead and manage a variety of ecological projects across Northern Ireland and the UK, providing expert advice, field leadership, and high-quality reporting to support planning applications, infrastructure projects, conservation efforts, and habitat management.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead ecological surveys and assessments (Phase 1, UKHab, protected species, etc.).
- Manage and deliver EcIA and HRA reports for major infrastructure and development projects.
- Provide technical input on planning applications and environmental statements.
- Mentor and support junior ecologists and field staff.
- Liaise effectively with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
- Keep up to date with legislation, policy, and best practices in ecology and biodiversity.
- Contribute to business development, including writing tenders and proposals.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related subject (MSc preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in ecological consultancy or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of UK and Northern Ireland wildlife legislation and policy.
- Demonstrable experience in ecological fieldwork and survey techniques.
- Proven track record in writing high-quality technical reports (EcIA, HRA, mitigation plans).
- Protected species survey licenses (e.g., bats, newts) desirable.
- Membership of CIEEM (or working towards Full or Chartered status).

- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Competence in GIS and ecological data analysis (desirable).
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and work flexibly as needed.
